Remembering Jill Glasband

An Icon has left the building.

Jill Glasband the powerhouse iconic maven of funeral service has shed her mortal coil. Active in the industry throughout her professional career, she is Past President of the California Funeral Directors Association, the Jewish Funeral Directors Association of America, and our beloved little Los Angeles County Funeral Directors Association. Over 40 years of service - Jill was a maverick. She supported women in funeral service, encouraged education, and shared true compassion with families.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Hillside Memorial Park 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your preferred charity in her honor.

The service will be livestreamed. Please join us virtually if you cannot attend in person.

Jill was a great inspiration to me. I believe that my personal professional experience is directly a result of Jill’s support. I always looked up to her, from the first time we met at Hillside, I had already heard about the “iconic” Jill Glasband. Incredibly classy, extremely knowledgeable, and always dressed to the nines. Who doesn’t love a pair of Tom Ford glasses?

From the beginning Jill was supportive and encouraging. When I left Hillside and went up north to manage my first mortuary, it was because of Jill that I got the job. Surprised that they would hire me without more experience, I was told it was because “Jill Glasband recommended you.”

I became involved in industry associations, taking a nod from her playbook, I hope I can make her memory proud. Jill is a woman who helped layout HERstory. Jill walked so many of us could run and I thank her for that.

Jill once told me that there will come a time in my career when you need to let another woman stand on your shoulders. I have always strived to support young women in our industry paying forward the opportunity she gave to me.

She always called me “Kiddo” and I loved that. Jill made such an impression on me - her legacy is undeniable.

All my love,

Jenna

Rest in Power Sweet Queen.
